Candie Tanaka

Candie Tanaka is a writer, artist, and librarian whose work explores identity and the stories that shape how we see ourselves and others.

A graduate of Simon Fraser University’s The Writer’s Studio, Candie is the author of the YA novel Baby Drag Queen, which was a finalist for the City of Vancouver Book Award. Their work has also appeared in several anthologies, including Resonance: Essays on the Craft of Life and Writing and Queer Country Crossroads.

We’re excited to have Candie hosting our From Book to Bestseller session at VIPC this year. As a published author who understands both the creative and practical sides of the book world, they bring a thoughtful perspective to the conversation around what helps books find readers.
